Electroencephalogram (EEG) Testing
An electroencephalogram, or EEG, is a painless test that records the electrical activity of the brain. EEG testing can identify abnormal patterns that may be associated with seizures, encephalopathy, and other neurologic conditions.
In addition to in-office testing, Neurology Diagnostics offers overnight digital EEG monitoring. After an in-office setup, patients leave with a lightweight monitoring device that continues recording brain activity during normal daily activities and sleep.
What to Expect
During your EEG:

A headset with small electrodes will be gently placed over your head like a fitted cap.

You will relax while the electrodes record your brain’s electrical activity.

You may be asked to breathe deeply and rapidly for a short period of time.
-
You may be shown a flashing light at different speeds.
-
The test itself is painless.
Average appointment time: Approximately 60 minutes.
Preparing for Your EEG
Before your appointment:

Arrive with clean, completely dry hair. Do not use oils, lotions, gels, or hairspray.

Do not wear hair extensions, braids, or hair clips.

Eat a normal meal or snack before your appointment.

Avoid caffeine for 24 hours before testing. Water, juice, and milk are permitted.

Take your medications as normally prescribed unless your provider gives you different instructions.

If instructed to complete sleep deprivation, remain awake until midnight the night before testing, wake at 5:00 AM, and remain awake until your test begins.

Do not wear makeup on the day of testing.

Avoid perfumes, colognes, and body sprays.
Carotid Ultrasound & Transcranial Doppler
A closer look at blood flow to the brain.
Carotid Ultrasound (CUS) and Transcranial Doppler (TCD) are non-invasive ultrasound studies that allow our clinical team to evaluate blood flow within the vessels supplying the brain.
Carotid ultrasound examines the major blood vessels in the neck, while Transcranial Doppler evaluates circulation within blood vessels deeper inside the brain. These studies can provide valuable information when evaluating cerebrovascular health and stroke risk.
Carotid Ultrasound (CUS)
What to Expect
A technologist will gently move an ultrasound probe along the sides of your neck to create images and measure blood flow through your carotid arteries.
The test is non-invasive and painless.
Average appointment time: Approximately 30 minutes.

Transcranial Doppler (TCD)
What to Expect
A technologist will gently position an ultrasound probe at specific areas around your head. The test allows your care team to evaluate blood flow through selected vessels within the brain.

EMG & Neuromuscular Medicine
Understanding how your nerves and muscles are working.
Electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies provide important information about the health and function of your nerves and muscles.
These tests can help determine the cause of symptoms such as numbness, tingling, weakness, muscle discomfort, and radiating pain. They are commonly used when evaluating conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and nerve-related neck or back symptoms.
What to Expect
EMG testing typically consists of two parts.
Nerve Conduction Study
Small electrical impulses are used to measure how quickly and effectively nerves transmit signals through the arms or legs.
Needle EMG
Your physician uses a very small needle electrode to evaluate electrical activity within selected muscles.
Some temporary discomfort may occur during testing, but lasting effects are uncommon.
Average appointment time: Approximately 45–60 minutes.
How to Prepare
On the day of your test:

Do not apply lotions, creams, or oils to your arms or legs.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being tested.

Continue medications as prescribed unless your provider gives you different instructions.
Infusion Therapy
Specialized treatment in a comfortable setting.
Neurology Diagnostics offers an on-site infusion suite for patients receiving intravenous therapies for multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and other neurologic conditions.
Our infusion services allow patients to receive specialized treatments in a comfortable outpatient environment with clinical monitoring throughout their visit.
What to Expect
Before treatment, our team will work through the required medication authorization and treatment preparation process.
During your infusion, a trained clinical professional will administer and monitor your treatment while you relax in our infusion suite. The length of your appointment will depend on the medication and treatment protocol prescribed by your provider.
How to Prepare
Preparation varies depending on the medication being administered.
For many treatments, no special preparation is necessary. Our team will provide any medication-specific instructions before your appointment.
